How do you move from consideration to choice amongst a well-established competitive set? SEI Investment Manager Services provides operational solutions to investment managers and hedge funds globally. It wanted to shift perceptions of the brand from a niche services provider to a long-term strategic partner.

The Opportunity

While larger players were promoting discrete services, SEI decided to focus on its ability to continuously innovate and prepare its clients for the changing market landscape. We used the "survival of the fittest" analogy to articulate the need for investment managers to continually evolve and adapt. The campaign featured arrestingly beautiful organisms such as the semaphore-using Panamanean golden frog and bioluminescent deep-sea comb jellyfish, which have adaptations evolved for specific purposes.

Additionally, we leveraged high-impact out-of-home tactics such as advertising on the NASDAQ tower in New York and takeovers of train stations in areas with a large concentration of centers of influence.

After launching the campaign in Q4’14, SEI received more RFPs in Q1’15 than in the entire year prior.

The national campaign integrated paid search, print, digital, OOH, radio and stunt marketing to drive awareness and create impact for the brand. The campaign was both a Gold and Silver winner at the Financial Communications Society Portfolio Awards.
