How can a firm more effectively manage and expand its global talent pool?
With more than 24,000 employees, Lehman Brothers had a vast pool of experience, expertise and skills spread across the globe. Senior management viewed knowledge sharing and ongoing education as an essential component to maintaining a cutting-edge, competitive workforce. Educational content, however, from intellectual property generated by different business units to formal educational and training materials, was almost as widely distributed as the Lehman employee base. Without a centralized online location for all learning and development resources, Lehman employees were unable to efficiently tap into the global knowledge of the firm.
Delivering a scaleable framework.
Carpenter Group was engaged to devise a multi-phased process plan that would facilitate successful implementation as well as deliver the final portal. The immediate goal was to make quick-hit improvements to content and information architecture on the existing corporate intranet; the longer-term solution brought together overlapping corporate initiatives to create a single information repository and a seamless experience for the firm’s employees. Creating this road map allowed Carpenter Group to reconcile corporate objectives with end-user behaviors and expectations around technology, collaboration and information availability.
