At a recent LIMRA conference, Carpenter Group presented our latest thinking digital trends influencing the world today.

On May 27, 2015, in Baltimore, at LIMRA's annual Marketing and Research Conference, Bhawna Johar—senior vice president of creative strategy for Carpenter Group—gave a well-received presentation to a select group of financial services industry leaders on "10 digital trends shaping consumerism and 10 ideas to put into action."

The overarching theme of the presentation stressed that "trends aren't really the point—opportunities are." Johar focused on the growing importance of "prosumers", a new class of individuals who care less about what they have or buy and more about what they can do or create—and the need for digital marketers to think beyond Google paid searches and engage in more direct forms of interaction with their target markets.

Johar concluded that, while the digital marketing space can be fickle, the trends outlined deserve thoughtful consideration and spirited experimentation.
